StrikeTracker has been completely refreshed with an updated aesthetic, reorganization of the navigation panel, and improved visibility into account administrative functions. All of this has been done with a central desire to help you get more work done with less wasted effort. These new changes are the first of many sweeping UI and UX changes, and we're very excited to introduce them to you.

Here’s what’s new for the Navigation, Header and Overview.

 

NAVIGATION PANEL

 

Let’s start from the top.

The greatest improvement, aside from the aesthetic of the new style and color scheme of StrikeTracker, is the reorganization of the app’s navigation panel. 

First and foremost, we hoped to achieve an easier understanding of the hierarchy of features, functions, and configurations for both new and returning users.

The Flow of the Navigation Panel

Each category of features is clearly distinguishable in the app’s navigation panel.

striketracker-side-navigation-panelThe GENERAL category at the top includes the all new “Overview” page.

The CONFIGURATION category containts all configurable object concepts listed in order of importance.

The ANALYTICS category groups together all features dealing with metrics, account data, and billing and usage data. It now includes the previously-titled “Analytics Overview” page which has been renamed “Dashboard."

Finally, the TOOLS section now includes the “Explorer” feature (moved from the Configuration category) and the “Speed Test” feature.  “Speed Test” is actually a rename from “Barometer” to more explicitly match its fundamental function.

The flow of the navigation panel just makes sense now. This ease of use lends itself well to new users in particular because there is no question where to start when a new account has been provisioned. While the new “Overview” page does a great job at introducing users to StrikeTracker’s capabilities, everything in the navigation panel is ordered for ease of use. 

For example, “Hosts” are listed first in the CONFIGURATION category, with “Origins” following, and the optional “Certificates” configuration tab listed last.

Finally, the navigation panel is collapsible from within the panel itself to free up working space while maintaining the context of each platform’s categories. 

Navigating Platforms: From CDN to EveryStream to HCS and back again

Navigating between the CDN, EveryStream and HCS platforms is now more intuitive.

The platforms drop-down menu has replaced the individual platform icons, and this new menu has been migrated to inside the navigation panel to streamline the process of changing platforms and to avoid confusion when switching. Once a user switches platforms, the navigation panel is visibly updated with the correct icon and links that correspond to that platform.

 

HEADER SECTION

 

Each option in the header section has been reorganized into three new sections for ease of use, with striketracker-account-menu
 the exception of options under the “Notifications” and “Help” sections.  These new sections are “Accounts,” 
“Search,” and “Profiles.”

Accounts

All of your account details and options are now accessible by clicking the “Account Name” of the account you’re currently using. 

From here you can view all details specific to account, edit the account, manage subaccounts, and manage users. 

Search

An individual search icon has been added and search functions in much the same way as it did before, but with a couple new and great features and a slightly altered look.

The search field has been separated from the account name and given its own icon. 

Search terms now persist when a user navigates away from the search field. 

Categories relevant to the search criteria are more clearly defined. 

Finally, a host of advanced options have been added to give you more control over the results displayed per your search criteria.

Search Hot Keys in StrikeTracker

You can navigate to any account, host, origin, cert, etc. without ever picking up your mouse!

Cmd + Enter / ctrol + shift + enter = bring up search field
Up / Down = navigate search results
Enter = select search result / select the first result
Esc = close search field

By clicking the “Profile” icon you can now view your user profile, edit your profile, and log out. 


Optimized for Mobile and Tablet Responsiveness

Both the new navigation and header have been designed with responsiveness in mind.  Whether you are working on your desktop, your tablet, or your mobile phone, you will be able to navigate StrikeTracker with ease.

striketracker-mobileWhen in mobile, the navigation panel can be accessed via the hamburger menu icon in the top left. The profile, account admin options, and the help section of StrikeTracker can be accessed from three vertical dots icon in the upper right.

Finally, the StrikeTracker logo is retained in the header section when the navigation panel is collapsed, and there’s no question that you are using the one and only, all powerful StrikeTracker CDN management application!

 

 

ALL NEW OVERVIEW PAGE

 

The new “Overview” page can be thought of as your account nucleus – it’s designed to introduce users both new and returning with important information relevant to their account at any given time, and to be a starting point for working with several of the most commonly used features available within StrikeTracker.

Welcome to StrikeTracker!

striketracker-overview-new-userFirst and foremost, new users are greeted by a friendly welcome screen introducing the user to the concept of a Host and encouraging them to take the first necessary step in wielding StrikeTracker and unleashing the power of Highwinds CDN.  If the user is on a reseller account, they will be encouraged to create a Subaccount initially instead of a Host.

Once a user has created their first Host or Subaccount, the Overview page starts to reflect activity occurring on the account.

Summary Panel

The Summary Panel shows users, at a glance, the number of Hosts and Origins created, Certificates uploaded, Users with profiles, and Subaccounts available on their account. 

From each panel, a user can easily navigate to add a new Host, Origin, Certificate, User, or Subaccount or they can view all items under a category.

Bandwidth

striketracker-bandwidthFrom here users can also view their month-to-date bandwidth for HTTP and HTTPS. You can quickly tell what your monthly billing trend is going toward.

Account Activity

striketracker-account-activityThe Account Activity section puts several important bits of information right at your fingertips so you don’t have to drill into your account for everyday, important information. You are able to quickly click through roll-up data for each day.  If you need more in-depth information, you can easily navigate to all of your account’s activity. 
 

 

 

Task List

striketracker-tasklistThe task list at the bottom of the Overview page is intended to get new users acclimated with all the functionality of StrikeTracker.  The task list is currently only provided for accounts that are not marked as resellers.

A list of six items is randomly generated when a new account is created and those tasks are meant as suggestions for how you could be more powerfully leveraging StrikeTracker.

But be careful! Once you close the task list and navigate away from Overview page the task list is closed for good.

Setting the New Overview to Default

If you don’t have the new Overview page set as your home page when you log in, and would like to do so, you can update your home page preference by clicking on the profile menu, going to “Edit Profile” and setting your home page preference from the dropdown at the bottom of the screen.
